Every time we see this commercial, we are convinced that Bifidus Regularis is a crock of—ah—yogurt. Well as
it turns out, BR is an intestinal microflora bacteria—that well—regulates your digestive track. BR is only of many “probiotic” ingredients added to yogurt to achieve different effects in other countries around the world. In Finland, for example, folks consume 50 pounds of yogurt per year compared to only 7 pounds in the US. According to our friends at
Advertising Age (free registration required,) Dannon will be increasing the ad budget to $ 100 to pitch other probiotic yogurts which supposedly help manage weight and fuel metabolism. While
Marketing Blurb is forced to concede our intestines already include these bugs, we are not inclined to ingest more. To be safe, make sure you stomp all over your yogurt to kill active cultures before eating it.
