You don’t need Marketing Blurb to tell you air travel is inconvenient at best. And once on board, you are guaranteed by the Gods to have the seat companion/s from hell. But Delta Airlines wants you to survive your long-haul flight, and consider them your airline of choice. As such, Delta is introducing a new seatback in-flight entertainment system for longer flights, which includes access to on-demand movies, TV, music and games. Delta claims their system is the most extensive such entertainment programming available in the industry. This includes 20 movie choices, 24 live television channels, 1600 songs and 10 video games. Movies are free in first class, and $ 5 each in coach. (The other content is free.) Installation of the system is underway in 117 planes, but will not be complete for all routes until spring of 2008. Delta remains in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, but the move is considered essential to make the airline competitive. Marketing Blurb prefers to read on airplanes, and gaze out the window from time-to-time.
