Marketing Blurb know Google is dabbling in television and radio advertising as well. But Google knows the future belongs to mobile marketing. Over the past few years, the search giant has been acquiring small
mobile software companies. Their most recent such acquisitions include
Dodgeball and Zipdash, which provide social networking and traffic information via cell phones. Together with other mobile technologies, Google is preparing to offer mobile content, and mobile advertising. Google already offers mobile search, but this only accounts for about 1% of their search volume. Perhaps this is just another example of their basic domination strategy. "If Google sees something that has not been done before, or not been done well before, and is well ahead of what they have internally, they'll acquire it," says Safa Rashtchy, senior analyst with Piper Jaffray & Company.
