Blogs are also a great way to open a dialog with company customers and prospects. Of course, company blogs also open the door for disgruntled customers to vent their sometimes hostile frustrations. As such, we think that Verizon Communications must be crazed or ignorant in their decision to create a “no-holds barred "all issues on the table" dialogue with consumers--and will support it with a round-the-clock response team.” We learned from Media Post Publications (free registration required) that the telecommunication giant will add consumer blogging to their marketing mix later this year. "It's one of the biggest things we'll be launching this year," said Jerri DeVard of Verizon, who acknowledged that Verizon is playing catch-up in the fields of online and social networking.
