Back in July, we told readers that Radio Shack was planning a fall promotion with the
Rolling Stones, the boomer-aged bad boys of rock and roll. Back then, we know Radio Shack intended to hype LG large-screen televisions, which proved a profitable new edition to their somewhat lackluster product line. But today we learned details of the rocking promotion from our friends at
Promo Magazine. Radio Shack is one sponsor of
the Stones upcoming
A Bigger Bang Tour. Fans can register at the promotion website,
radioshack.com/abiggerbang to win a trip for two to the final tour stop, back stages passes, the LG monster television, a guest appearance of Sirius Radio, and more! "It's a natural fit for us to be the sponsor of The Rolling Stones," said RadioShack spokesperson Charles Hodges. "They've been around for several decades and remain the number-one touring band in existence today. A lot of our customers who grew up as fans bought equipment like turntables and cassette players from us to listen to The Rolling Stones. Today, [customers] buy digital devices such as iPods to listen to them." You probably already know Radio Shack is on the ropes at the hands of Best Buy, Circuit City, and others. We hope this promotion is not their final bang.
