Marketing Blurb loves the state of Arizona as much as the next pundit. While we have not visited for years, we still appreciate the state’s unique Indian culture, beautiful terrain, distinctive cuisine, and sunshine. We even like the name Arizona. But we learned from
The Arizona Daily Star that 30 marketing communications and marketing professionals recently gathered to create a new state moniker to promote business
and tourism. The result—shudder--is “Welcome to Biozona—advancing science—enhancing life.” The new state designation will appear along with a new logo depicting a stylized outline of Arizona with circles illustrating refracted light and molecular activity. The move is intended to help develop Arizona’s existing bio-industry into an international powerhouse. While
Marketing Blurb believes Arizona deserves international recognition for countless reasons, we think this name and logo looks more like an advertisement for a new sleep aid medication. Yawn.
