
Okay sport fans, get ready for a dandy Super Bowl gimmick from our friends at Frito-Lay. The salty snack juggernaut just announced the “Create Your Own Super Bowl XLI Commercial” contest for their Doritos. According to Promo Magazine, “The winning ad will air unaltered and untagged during the game. Contest participants submit their
commercial video online to contest partner Yahoo! Video. Frito-Lay will pick five finalists to post at the Doritios.com website in January for a public vote. "In today's increasingly reality-driven world, people are looking for new ways to interact with, help shape and even personalize what is important to them," said Doritos VP-Marketig Ann Mukherjee in a statement. "While we've had great success with star-studded Super Bowl commercials in years past, today we are most inspired by the people who love Doritos chips; this year, they're telling us they want to be in control and we're giving them that control on one of the world's most watched events," she said. Marketing Blurb suspects there is enough small print in this contest to choke a moose, but we think contest publicity will prove more valuable than the commercial in the long run.
