
One of the most well-known franchises in cinema released a new movie this weekend.
That's right. Bond, James Bond, is back.
The new movie, Casino Royale, restarts the franchise in more ways than one - a new actor (Daniel Craig), new technology (cell phones are the spy tool of the 21st century) and an old/new approach (getting back to the basics with a harder edge).
This movie is a wonderful example of how to revive a brand that has suffered and softened (Pierce Brosnan, cough). High style, beautiful people, strong plot/writing, less focus on stupid gadgets, aggressive action, and a raw edge combined for possibly the best Bond ever.
The big take away for marketers is that we must all beware diluting what makes our brands great.
