Million Dollar Homepage 2.0 - Pixelotto

Since I'm on the subject, I thought I'd mention the new endeavour of the mastermind behind the original, brilliant and much-copied Million Dollar Homepage.  His new company, Pixelotto combines the original idea with a new twist to drive more traffic to his advertisers.

The big twist is that each pixel is priced at $2 thereby raising a total of $2 million once all pixels are sold. By clicking on the ads, users are entered to win $1 million, $100,000 will go to charity and the Alex Tew will keep the remaining $900K. Not too shabby a salary for a couple of years work. :-)

I thought that it would be hard to follow the original but I must admit that this is pretty novel. Don't miss out on your chance to buy a piece of online advertising history!

Hi,

I just wanted to get in touch to mention our newly launched website, m TurfJam. Its an experiment in the worth of online advertising spaces.

Following on from Internet legends such as the Million Dollar Homepage, TurfJam is an advertising opportunity for marketeers and businesses.. however, the difference here is that each spot on TurfJam is being auction off. There are 100 pieces of "turf", being released 10 at a time. As each auction runs and completes we will be updating and comparing the winning cost of each piece (all are the same size) to see how the price changes over time, and in relation to the number of pieces of turf left.

If you would like more information please visit www.turfjam.com or get in touch with any questions.

Regards,
Craig Williams

I beat him too it. I honestly did. And with a better concept too. The odds of winning my competition are much greater! You can check my site out here www.cashcells.com - Cheers.

Hi,

I just wanted to get in touch to mention our newly launched website, www.riallotto.com.

Same rules as Pixelotto.com. Different script engine, faster server apparently.

To see the site for yourself please visit www.millionrialshomepage.com or www.millionrialshomepage.eu or www.riallotto.com .

Are pixel sites dead? Do you love pixel sites?

Come along and give your opinion!

Eric, it seems like you opened the floodgates with this post! Who knew there was so much of this business model out there?

Again, i state that Alex could have done so much more with a new site. In my opinion he's failed to make the mark with pixelotto. Providing visitors an incentive to click the ads was correct, however, making just one person a million dollar winner doesn't fair well with the general public....... the chances of winning aren't realistic. One of the copycats hit the mark and that is www.pixaprize.com. A long-term, sustainable business concept, with the grid transformed into a treasure hunt grid and prizes hidden behind various squares for visitors to win. If that wasn't enough, vsitors are given quirky "hot & cold" clues to help them find those prizes. Gets visitors clicking and advertisers are much happier for the traffic. Appeasing both visitors and advertisers is what it's about and pixaprize hits the mark. Unlucky Alex i say! should've copied pixaprize!

I found another site, but it's quite different - it doesn't sell pixels, but rather letters. http://www.lettermatrix.com

I think the concept of Alew Tew can only work once. Even with a good copy, I don't believe it will work again.
Pixelotto may work only because it's Alex Tew.

I think it will work to an extent. it took off really fast but seems to have died down for the meantime. i would advertise my company on it but its just too expensive. I found a website called www.milliondollarnamegame.com . it has nothing to do with the other million dollar pages out there though. They are charging $5 to advertise for at least 2 years and they giving away multiple amounts of money. They also are doing something for a world record to get people to keep coming back to the website to help out the advertisers

'Alex Tew' is pretty much a 'Brand Name' now so anything Alex does with a pixel website will make him a mass ammount of money and good luck to him. He created the fad and people will follow his new ideas even though the internet is swamped with pixel sites.

Alex is giving away $100,000 (roughly £50,000) to charity when he makes a million. http://www.stepuptoamillion.com (a new Idea) launched in August and is halfway to the top of a 21 step ladder. When reached it will roughly make $4 Million (£2 Million)when the top is reached.

$2 Million (£1 Million) of that goes to help fight extreme poverty and $2 Million (£1 Million) will go to one of the 21 advertisers/sponsors involved.

http://www.stepuptoamillion.com does not profit from this site and offers so much more for everyone involved.

Pixelotto is quite an interesting idea. You can start your own pixelotto site within minutes without coding knowledge. You simply need this cool pixelotto script.

Hello, I recently saw another "million dollar concept" on the internet. It is "the top of the internet" and you can place ads on this top of the internet, the highest place of the internet! Free ads will be added to the bottom and the more you'd like to pay for your ad the higher you'll get listed on "the top of the internet". Check it out at: http://thetopoftheinternet.com Do you think it has potential?

Pixel sites are dead, http://www.Viewamillionads.com will change the way ads are viewed in the future!

1.5 million grand prize for the winner, free to play!

I personnaly find the concept of the game http://www.incrediblecashmachine.com quite new in the same area.

I have just launched my own Million Dollar Homepage. It's not an exact copy of the pixel page, but it's a similar concept. At the time I'm writing this, I've made $30.00 -- The site was launched yesterday.

I think that the http://thetopoftheinternet.com mentioned above is a cool and clever concept. It increases the site traffic for banner advertisers and both gives clickers on the ads the chance to win money! Great idea!
