If you're like most people, you've "egosurfed" once or twice before. Egosurfing is the act of using an online search engine to look for yourself usually via your full name.
Do you know what comes up? Anything damaging? Anything helpful if a future employer or a potential date looks you up?
Perhaps your myspace page where you talk about last weekend's party? Or perhaps the criminal record of someone with the same name?
If you don't like what comes up when you go egosurfing then it might be time for a personal online branding campaign. One of the best methods for doing this is to by the URL of your full name (in my case, EricMattson.com) and put up a basic website or blog there. It doesn't cost a whole lot of money and it can bring some real benefits!
