Several weeks ago, I went out to lunch with a professor from UW-Bothell. During the lunch I made the statement that the ability to sell was the most important entrepreneurial skill one could have.
Last week, a friend of mine shared that the prof took that idea and quoted me on it in one of his handouts. I'm going to need to watch what I say more carefully from now on. ;-)
But, seriously, selling matters. More than marketing. More than PR. More than SEO. Selling means cash. Deals. Moola. Survival.
If learn nothing else before going into business, learn to sell.

Not only sell, but sell in all of your marketing activities. Twenty years of evalating direct marketing have taught me that subtle selling techniques within the actual marketing vehicle mean everything.
Thanks,
Kevin
