There is a lot of talk about online video right now. Google's YouTube acquisition is definitely part of the reason but pure growth of the medium (and it's soon-to-happen) leap to mobiles phones are also buzzworthy.
In a recent article in Revenue magazine, I ran across a great blurb on where online video and online video advertising is at.
"...most Internet users have watched online video; 25 percent watch regularly, at least once per week. Users regularly see online video ads and, according to the Online Publishers Association, 44 percent have taken some action after viewing an online video ad."
Wow.

hi eric
for the last six months I have travelled to Ireland, Spain and Vietnam, filming eight stories at eight locations, in each country.
I wanted to carry on the theme I established at http://www.overlander.tv whereby I interview a local person at each place I visit, and produce a 3-5 minute online video, giving a brief overview of each location.
October 2005 I quit my public service job in Australia and decided I would attempt to try and make a living as a documentary filmmaker. An online doco gig for the ABC http://www.abc.net.au/queensland/boxingtent/ kept the wolves from the door, but now I really have to start making some cash from my videos at overlander.tv
I find your article a good resource for what is happening with regard to online video and hope you can give me some advice.
I have looked at the sites that share ad revenue, and decided such an avenue won't make me a living. My idea is to sell one click on ad at the end of each location video for anything from $1500 - $3000 AUD for the life of the video. I will then not only list the videos on my site, but spread them over the net via RSS feeds.
I would be interested to hear your opinion on my plan, any suggestions would be helpful.
regards
Mark Shea
