Brad Feld (a Colorado-based venture capitalist) recently wrote a post entitled "Don't
Be Casual" about a meeting between one of his portfolio companies and a fellow vc. The meeting turned out to be a disaster because serious preparation wasn't made a priority.
Brad phrases the moral as "Don't Be Casual" but I'd put it another way.
Always Be Marketing!
Too many companies fail to keep their audience (investor, customer, partner or prospect) in mind in their strategy and communications. With every broadcast email, new landing page, display ad, face-to-face meeting and tradeshow booth design, make sure you take a step back and try and put yourself in your audience's shoes.
It can make a huge difference.
