Mobile marketing is poised to explode in the US. The next generation lives, eats and sleeps via their mobile device (notice I didn't say phone). Today, I ran across a fascinating finding about SMS and I thought I'd share it with you.
Accorcing to the Vertis Communications Customer Focus Direct Mail study (which I found via mediapost.com):
"Text messaging to be the most desired method of follow-up
communication in younger men ages 18-24, with 23 percent desiring contact via text message from a company they are interested in, compared to 5 percent of women the same age, says the survey."
One in four young males want companies to contact them via SMS.
Is that your market? Are you doing so?

Good post and interesting statistics.
SMS can also be used successfully as a marketing tool on digital signage displays out-of-home.
It is a great way to provide coupons/promotions/email list signups!
Do you have any data on SMS usage in various countries?
