
One of the interesting dynamics of the blogosphere and long tail of content is that so much great new content is created everyday that it's hard to go back to the archives and find the great old content.
Recently, Michael Arrington at TechCrunch drew my attention to an old post of his on how to not blow your Beta debut on the web.
In it, he offers some great advice on first impressions, beta vs. alpha vs. finished product releases and company blogging. ![]()
Personally though, I think the most important point he makes is on what he calls "The Browser Issue."
The Browser Issue
Internet Explorer has dominant market share, and (at least today) you must work on IE to get mass consumer adoption.
However, most of the early adopters use Firefox, and a lot of them use Macs. At one point, 80% of TechCrunch readers used the Firefox or Safari browsers.
If you don’t support Firefox and, to a lesser extent, Safari, when you launch, you are going to be shunned by the early adopters.
Just something to think about if you're launching anything online.
