According to a post at Politico.com, Fred Thompson's advisers are claiming he will join the Republican run for the 2008 presidential election. Rumors have been circulating for some time now about Thompson's intentions, and it appears an announcement is imminent. Fred Thompson is already well-known throughout the country although it may not be for his political career. In fact, I would venture to guess that many people don't know his name nor do they know much about his nine-year stint in the U.S. Senate, but they probably know is face from television (most recently on Law & Order) or in one of the many movies he's been in including In the Line of Fire with Clint Eastwood and Cape Fear with Robert De Niro. His list of acting credits is long and can be seen at IMDb.com. In fact, that acting career may play a major role in his presidential marketing campaign. Of course, his time in Hollywood could also be used against him by his opponents. I can't wait to see the commercials! What do you think? Will Fred Thompson's acting career hurt him or help him in his bid for the presidency?
