I'm addicted to The Amazing Race on CBS. There, I've said it. That's the first step to admitting you have a problem, right? I cannot miss this show, and that's exactly what advertisers like Travelocity are betting on when they pay big bucks for product placement in popular television shows.![]()
For Travelocity, finding a place like The Amazing Race to advertise is a goldmine. Not only is the company name mentioned frequently as Travelocity provides many of the prize packages for contestants who win each leg of the race, but an entire episode is dedicated to teams finding a Travelocity gnome statue.
Can you think of another product and television show where product placement was done so well?

I haven't been as dedicated to American Idol this year as I have been in years past, but I have noticed that Coke's product placement throughout the show is quite extensive! The large contour cups, the red room, often made me want to go for a (diet) Coke! Not to mention the commercials.
Also, between the group videos they made that usually feature a Ford car, in conjunction with the Ford commercials, Ford had quite a presence as well!
