
I received a great comment on my post yesterday about Ron Paul and the fallout from his positive performance at the recent Republican presidential debate. The commenter, Jeremy, mentioned that the social web will undoubtedly play a significant role in the next presidential election. He referenced web sites like YouTube, Digg, Reddit and Facebook (and many more) which are gaining users and influence rapidly.

I did a quick search and found a forum post on the discussion forums of The Rant that included an Alexa chart showing the web traffic of Ron Paul compared to the other candidates (John McCain, Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney) after the Republican presidential debate. From this chart, it seems like the internet is poised to play an interesting and significant role in the 2008 presidential election. Let's see which candidates capitalize on the internet's influence in their marketing campaigns.
