
My favorite marketing book is The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing by Al Ries and Jack Trout. Al Ries' daughter, Laura, writes a blog called Origin of Brands, and yesterday, she announced on her blog that the online marketing news report she is co-hosting with her father has launched. Monday's report included segments where Al discussed the iPhone and Acura as well as segments where Laura discussed the Wii and The Wiggles. As the mother of two-year old triplets, the report about The Wiggles brand was particularly appealing to me. While I'm acting as referee and janitor to three very busy two-year olds, I don't often stop to think how marketing plays a role in the DVDs my children are watching, but marketing is everywhere (lucky for us marketers).
As I expected from Al Ries, the topics in The Ries Report are timely and interesting, and Al and Laura provide candid analyses and commentaries. I'm looking forward to seeing The Ries Report again next week.
