The Apple iPhone release is just 5 days away and a post on MacRumors gives us a sneak peak at some of the accessories that will tie in to the iPhone, which were leaked on Flickr yesterday. The photos show three types of carrying cases for the iPhone. ![]()
- The Sleek acrylic case
- The Hip Case - a leather case with a belt clip
- The Jam Jacket - a silicone case with "headset management"
According to Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), the iPhone will work with many existing iPod accessories including car adaptors, etc. as well as Bluetooth headsets. However, to ensure its exclusive iPhone accessory line is complete, Apple will offer its own Bluetooth headset with a pricetag to match (MacRumors reports the pricetag is speculated to be $129).
The iPhone has yet to prove itself in the market, but with just 5 days until the launch, we'll hear initial sales results soon. Will the sales live up to the hype? The accessory line is a key component of the iPhone's overall success. With a steep $499 price tag on the actual iPhone, early adopters will be from a specific demographic profile, which is primarily expected to consist of affluent males in their 30s. If customers can afford to purchase an iPhone, they'll undoubtedly want all the bells and whistles to go with it. Accessories will certainly help sales figures meet Apple, AT&T (NYSE:T) and the market's (dare I say, artifically inflated) expectations for the iPhone.
