Collinsville, Illinois was once the home of a ketchup factory, and the town already holds the record for "The World's Largest Catsup Bottle" (a 170' tall water tower). Now, with the help of Heinz (NYSE: HNZ), they're working on entering the Guinness World Records again with the world's largest ketchup packet.![]()
Not only is a world record at stake, but Heinz is also pitching in by donating 4,000 glass bottles of ketchup, which will be sold for $1 per bottle. Buyers can take turns pouring their bottles into the 8'x4' Heinz ketchup packet, which will hold 1,500 pounds of ketchup when it reaches its full capacity.
Proceeds from the Heinz ketchup bottle sales will go to the Collinsville Christian Academy. The school was damaged by fire earlier this week, and the giant ketchup packet event is turning into a great fundraiser thanks to Heinz.
I love to see fun events like this that give a company like Heinz a clever way to provide goodwill and give back to a community while promoting their brand at the same time. With this event, Heinz will receive long term promotion as well. The world's largest ketchup packet will be put on display at Heinz's headquarters building.
Have you had the chance to participate in a goodwill event like this one? It can definitely make you proud to be a part of the company sponsoring the event.

This is a great event in my opinion also. It's nice to see people doing good and being recognized for it rather than the press releases that seem to always show the bad things.
Hooray!!
