
An interesting article on eMarketer announces some interesting data released by SNL Kagan this month. Speculation based on real data is that mobile phone penetration will exceed 100% by 2013.![]()
That's the equivalent of every person in the US owning one or more mobile phones. Currently, mobile phone penetration is at 83% in the United States. When you think about the cell phone market, it's still relatively young in the grand scheme of things. These statistics are really quite amazing.
What do you think these statistics tell us as marketers? It seems the tie-in and ad market related to cell phones, particularly as their capabilities widen, is relatively untapped. I'm sure we'll see many companies finding new ways to target and reach the various cell phone demographic audiences.
