2008 Presidential candidates such as Ron Paul, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have been leveraging the internet heavily in their campaign promotional strategies. According to a recent study by BurstMedia, it looks like their investing their advertising budgets in the right place.![]()
Today, eMarketer reported that a BurstMedia study conducted in March 2007 surveyed over 2,000 U.S. adult internet users and asked respondents what the best place is to learn about a Presidential candidate's position on election issues. The graph to the right shows the results of the study.
The eMarketer article includes a variety of survey results related to the 2008 Presidential election. Looking at the results of these surveys, it's clear that the internet will play a big part in the next election for President of the United States.
Which candidates do you think are already leveraging the internet effectively in their campaigns? It's still early, so it should be interesting to see how candidates' marketing teams develop their marketing plans to include an online component. Campaigning has changed even in just the past few years with the internet becoming a valuable communication portal. I can only imagine how much more it will change for the 2012 Presidential election. It should be interesting to watch.
