Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) officially began business in 1998. Today marks Google's ninth year in business meaning the company is really still just a baby. However, you'll have to tell that to Google who successfully built the "search engine" into one of the largest and most successful brands in the world during those nine short years.![]()
In July, BusinessWeek and Interbrand released the Top 100 Global Brands of 2007. Google was ranked twentieth on that list with a brand value of nearly $18 billion. That's a 44% increase from the brand value Google held in 2006 of just over $12 billion. Not bad for a company that hasn't even reached adolescence.
As we all know, Google shows no signs of slowing down. Although Yahoo! and Microsoft might be threatening to steal market share or at least make life a bit more difficult for Google in the short term, it's unlikely any competitor can burst the Google success bubble anytime soon.
As it does every year, Google modified their logo on their homepage to help celebrate their birthday. You can see their previous birthday logos in this cool post on Search Engine Land.
What do you think? Is this still just the beginning for Google or is the best behind them already?
