Forbes announced its list of the best cities for jobs, and the results might surprise you. To create the list, Forbes compared 100 of the largest U.S. metropolitan areas in five categories: unemployment rate, job growth, income growth, median household income and cost of living.
Big cities like New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago didn't make the top ten. In fact, if you're looking to make a move to one of Forbes' best cities for jobs, pack your bathing suit and shorts, because most of the cities in the top ten are hot, hot, hot! Temperature hot, that is!
Here's a quick run-down of the top ten best cities for jobs according to Forbes:
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- Raleigh, North Carolina
- Phoenix, Arizona
- Jacksonville, Florida
- Orlando, Florida
- Tulsa, Oklahoma
- Austin, Texas
- Albuquerque, New Mexico
- Wichita, Kansas
- Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
What do you think of Forbes' list of the best cities for jobs? Let's face it, getting on this list can definitely give a city a branding and advertising boost, but how true are the results? The best city for jobs might not be the best city for every kind of job. I think this list is a bit misleading. For example, I live in the Orlando, Florida area, and I definitely don't think it's one of the best cities for marketing jobs. On the other hand, jobs in the hospitality industry are plentiful in Central Florida.
