Honda CRZ Concept Car: A Sporty Hybrid

At last, a car manufacturer is making a hybrid that has some style.  Honda plans to unveil the Honda CRZ concept car later this month at the Tokyo Auto Show.  The car mixes a sleek style with an environmentally conscious, hybrid engine.Honda%20CRZ%203.jpg

The price tag and availability remain a secret, but rumor has it the Honda CRZ will be available in the near future.  According to the New York Times, the Japanese media has reported that the Honda CRZ concept car is a precursor to a new gas-electric model that Honda plans to release in 2009.  If that's accurate, it would make sense that the Honda CRZ should be available very soon.

Let's hope the Honda CRZ truly is just the next step in what will quickly become a redesign of the car industry to reduce the world's reliance on oil and help preserve the environment at the same time.

You can see more pictures of the Honda CRZ after the jump.

What do you think of the Honda CRZ?  It seems to be a natural extension of the Honda brand in terms of a hybrid vehicle, although I'm not sure if the sporty style matches the Honda brand as it exists in consumers' minds today.  I think the price tag will have a lot to do with the success of the Honda CRZ.

that great

I had a 1984 CRX

Great car, 50 MPG without being a hybrid.

I now have a 2002 Insight Hybrid.

I hope they put more into this CRZ than the Insight.
Terrible sound, no Cruise Control, and a seat that ruins your back. I have a 2 inch cushion to keep from having surgery. Again.

I like the lines but it s bit fat looking for me.
Bat Mobile Mini?

Also, having a flat rear end will creat a lot of drag. It would have been nice if it had swept a bit more.

I also hope it has a five speed manual transmission.
What is the point in having an automatic transmission sports-car?

I have a 2000 Honda Insight. This has been the
best car I have ever owned. The mileage and dependabilty have been great. I hope the CRZ is even better. The style of the car is owesome,I hope they keep the look. I also hope it gets even better gas mileage. If the car goes into production sign me up for one.

i own an 87 crx Dx i have put alot of money into it and i love the way it looks. now my friend has a 2002 honda hybrid and i don't like the way it runs it is pretty quick but the way it sounds is awful. but even as much as i hate ybrids i am very interested in the CRZ. the only problem i have with it is the way the rear rooks. now from a side view the CRZ looks alot like the crx which i like. well hopefully honda puts them on the market soon because i would like to see how it runs and sounds.
