When you think of green marketing, Wesson Oil is probably not one of the first products that pops into your head. However, ConAgra Foodservice (a division of ConAgra Foods, NYSE: CAG) has launched a new eco-friendly package to the Wesson Oil product line, which might make you think again.![]()
ConAgra Foodservice has introduced a new type of packaging that is both environmentally-friendlier and safer than its existing 35-pound Jug-in-Box oils. The new packaging is called Bag-in-Box. It includes four built-in handles as well as a built-in spout, which is expected to make pouring easier and safer.
Bag-in-Box packaging is eco-friendly in two ways:
- It uses 66% less plastic than traditional packaging.
- It takes up 36% less space in dumpsters when broken down.
It's great to see companies creating new ways to make a difference by helping the environment. Even small packaging changes can have a big impact on the environment.
What do you think? Have you seen any other interesting green packaging changes by companies recently?

Well, this is cool. It would be cooler if the products (i.e. the actual oils were more green) but small steps are still good steps. I may have to share this at Tree Hugging Family. Thanks for sharing.
