How about that for a tagline? According to an article on People.co.uk, Prince Williams's girlfriend, Kate Middleton, gave the future King of England a Nintendo Wii for Christmas. The Queen of England gave the Wii a try and now she's a big fan. Apparently, she's quite good at Wii Sports Bowling. Who would have thought?![]()
The 81-year old Queen of England isn't a gadget novice. She already has an email account, cell phone, iPod and Blackberry, so it's not completely surprising that she wasn't afraid to try Prince William's Wii.
I think the most interesting part of this story is not that the Queen of England likes Prince William's Nintendo Wii, but that this is the kind of product endorsement and PR companies can only dream about. Not only is the Queen of England the Queen, but she represents a completely different demographic for the Wii. This type of publicity could very well broaden the appeal of the Wii, which is already incredibly popular.
In fact, I have been hearing of more and more doctors and physical therapists actually recommending the Nintendo Wii to patients. Looks like Nintendo has a new demographic to target with future marketing campaigns for the Wii.
What do you think? Instead of seeing that Nintendo Wii commercial with the girls in bikinis playing that wrestling game and jumping on a couch, will we be seeing senior citizens in Nintendo's next commercial for the Wii playing that wrestling game and jumping on a couch?

I love that line! Should they be allowed to use it, I'm definite that Wii will soon gain a really huge following. I haven't really thought of Wii appealing to senior citizens and the fact that I see it as a quirky concept is a little strange as well. Just because a person is no longer in his or her twenties or thirties doesn't mean that he or she is not interested in fun stuff. Why do we always forget about that?
