I haven't watched the last few seasons of American Idol. It's gotten a bit boring and redundant to me, but it's still a very popular show. Despite not watching American Idol for a few seasons, I certainly haven't forgotten that viewers can place their votes through an AT&T text message. ![]()
Now, AT&T is taking their sponsorship of American Idol a step further by adding a new feature for fans to use to further experience the AT&T and American Idol brands. The new feature is called American Idol Framerz.
In short, American Idol Framerz allows fans to place photo frames with American Idol themes around their own pictures that they send to a specified number through their AT&T phones or that they upload through the AT&T-American Idol website. Users can choose to put their image alongside one of the top 12 contestants or on the American Idol stage.
So what do you think? Is this an effective way to add another element to the American Idol sponsorship for AT&T or do you think there must have been some more effective way that AT&T could have invested their time and money than Framerz to squeeze out some more revenue from the sponsorship? In case you're wondering, I believe the latter is the case.
Or perhaps you've already gotten your AT&T/American Idol Framerz. Am I just being too negative?
