In preparation to launch a new ad campaign called "Show Us Your Cheap", CheapTickets is asking customers to submit their cheap travel stories via the CheapTickets website. Stories must be less than 500 words and describe how the entrant saved money on a trip as well as how their frugal ways helped make that trip even better.![]()
The four best stories will be used in CheapTickets print and radio ads, which will feature the real-life winners. The winners will also get a 4-night vacation to anywhere in the continental United States.
This is a promotion I like. CheapTickets is not just planning to listen to consumers, but they're also going to allow consumers to tell stories that are likely to appeal to the CheapTickets wider target audience. I think the concept should work well. The contest is a great way to hype the ad campaign well before it launches. CheapTickets has created a complete package leading up to the launch of the actual ad campaign. I wonder how they'll continue the buzz after the launch.
