
Like a slow-moving pathogen (or political dictator), Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is slowly taking over the world (or at least the Internet). Am I being too harsh? It certainly seems like Google has a bit too much power, but alas, Google's acquisition of DoubleClick went through today for $3.1 billion.![]()
Now, Google has control over contextual ads and soon display ads will be added to their arsenal through DoubleClick. Can anyone else compete? If Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) buys Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO) can they even compete against the almighty Google?
Frankly, I hate DoubleClick ads. They're intrusive and annoying. I'm sure they'll bring in a lot of money for Google who has been struggling a bit lately, but I fear they'll get even more pervasive now.What do you think of Google's acquisition of DoubleClick?
