
Earth Day is later this month, so it's appropriate that the first annual Green Effie Awards were handed out this week. The Green Effie Awards are given by the Effie organization to honor eco-conscious advertising.![]()
This year's winners included Wal-Mart for its "Personal Sustainability Project" (created with Publicis Group's Saatchi & Saatchi), GE's "Ecomagination Round Two" (created by Omnicon Group's BBDO) and HSBC's "There's No Small Change" (created by WPP Group's JWT). Each campaign was selected as a winner because it resulted in tangible positive effects to the environment.

I think the Green Effie Awards are a great idea. While I think there is so much more that large companies could be (and should be) doing to help the environment, but it's great to see some of those efforts get recognized.
