VH1 is planning to launch a cool new tool called the VH1 Watch and Discuss Live Chat application which will be available for free download through several mobile phone carriers. The new tool will bring users' discussions together with real-time programming to create a fuller user experience.
Users will be able to join ongoing conversations in existing VH1 chat rooms through the application on their mobile devices while a program is airing on VH1. They'll be able to create user profiles and message their friends with the tool and create their own chat rooms about any topic they choose (even topics unrelated to VH1).
This sounds like an interesting way to bring VH1 content to a different medium. VH1 is also planning to launch a mobile game related to its show, "Flavor of Love", in mid-April. Looks like VH1 is making a strong attempt to capture audiences in new ways. What do you think? Will these mobile efforts succeed in increasing VH1 viewer loyalty or generating new viewers?
