It's not a done deal, but testing of replays in MLB are set to begin as early as this fall. Is it just me or does this announcement seem very coincidental in terms of its timing? After years and years of umpires making bad calls in baseball, suddenly, the sports world is buzzing about terrible calls by umps and demanding replays. Hmmmm....suspicious.![]()
What do you think? Is it really just coincidental that this topic has become so hot over the past year or is it a diversionary tactic to take people's minds off steroids? Is it a coy move to drive PR away from the negativity surrounding players and instead, place the blame for the problems in Major League Baseball on the umps?
The faces behind the scenes of MLB claim that other sports use instant replays and baseball fans expect and demand it, too. I don't really buy that argument though. So what do you think? Necessary change or convenient diversion?

My guess is that it gives them something else to sponsor. NOW IT'S TIME FOR AN INSTANT REPLAY BREAK ... EVER WISH YOU COULD GET A BREAK FROM HOUSE-CLEANING? CALL 555-1212.
I think it's a waste of time as "bad calls" are a much a part of baseball as brush-backs and bench clearing brawls. I also don't think baseball has a problem. Pundits are calling this the "steroid era." Fans are cramming ballparks everywhere except Miami and San Diego (two cities with so many other cool things to do).
