What's a company to do when economic times are rough and profits are sagging? Hire Mr. Bill for your next ad campaign, of course! I'll bet that wasn't what you were thinking, was it? Well, believe it or not, that's just the recipe for success that many companies have followed in the past, and now MasterCard (NYSE: MA) is joining the pack.
Don't believe me? According to The New York Times, the following companies have used the Mr. Bill character in commercials:
- Subway
- Burger King
- Ramada Inn
- Pringles
- Lexus
- And now ... MasterCard
Who knew when the character made famous on Saturday Night Live in the 1970s debuted that he'd have such a lucrative career as a commercial actor over 40 years later?
