
No need to create new cartoon and movie characters. Just resurrect the old ones again and again. It's cheaper and faster. Right? Actually, I disagree. From a consumer perspective, I disagree, but I suppose I can understand it from a marketing perspective. However, I bet you never expected to hear that The Smurfs are making a come back!![]()
It's true. Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation have bought the rights to bring the classic 80s cartoon, Smurfs, to the big screen. The film will be part animated, part live action. Naturally, a merchandising effort will go along with the deal, too.
What do you think about regurgitating the same ideas over and over? I think it's been proven time and again that just because a brand was popular the first time around, doesn't mean it will be the second time around. I guess we'll have to wait and see how this repeat turns out.
I wonder if there will be more than one girl Smurf this time around.







Yes and no. From a creative standpoint it's a bad idea but from a marketing standpoint it's a good one.
