Today marks a significant day in the world of American business. An iconic American brand, Anheuser-Busch (NYSE: BUD), will become Belgian. The news media is reporting that Anheuser-Busch agreed to a $50 billion takeover by Belgium company, InBev NV. The new company will be called Anheuser-Busch InBev. Say that 10 times fast!![]()
The acquisition marks the end of a grueling battle between the two companies. Apparently, Anheuser-Busch's U.S. headquarters will remain in St. Louis, and Budweiser will become the new Anheuser-Busch InBev company's flagship brand.
It will be interesting to see if the marketing of Anheuser-Busch brands like Budweiser, Bud Lite and Michelob, which hold a market share of about 50% of the U.S. beer market, will change after the acquisition.
What do you think?
