It all started with two kids - Bill Gates, an eighth grader, and Paul Allen, a sophomore in high school - who met in school and shared a love of technology and math and ultimately an entrepreneurial spirit that would change the world. Bill Gates hung up his formal Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) hat, but in so doing he left an interesting story that will surely be required reading for business students for decades to come.![]()
Bill Gates recorded a narrative to go along with some Microsoft archive photos that he gave to Fortune magazine. While the photos seem like they were picked by the Microsoft PR department more so than from a man who wants to share his story, it's still a fun slide show to watch. It's easy to forget just how young Bill Gates was when the seeds of Microsoft were first planted in his mind (and Paul Allen's).
You can follow the link to check out the Bill Gates and Microsoft slide show. It's only about six minutes long, but it is interesting.

As you mentioned, it's kind of a shock seeing some of the slides, like the one from 1979 where he's reviewing code and Microsoft earned $2.4 million that year. He was only 23 and looks more like he was 16. Thanks for sharing this.
