Even though Second Life has lost much of its popularity, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) thinks there is still something to be said for virtual worlds. Today, Google launched Lively - the Google online 3D virtual world. Lively requires a software download, but once the software is downloaded, visitors can visit anytime through Firefox or Internet Explorer (if they're on a PC, that is - Lively is not available to Mac users yet).![]()
Google plans for Lively to be completely integrated with the Internet. In the beta version, users can integrate videos and photos found online or embed their own Lively experiences on their own blog or Facebook or MySpace pages. While early users claim that Lively has a long way to go and that Second Life is still more feature-rich, Google seems to be fully supportive of the success of Lively and has plans in the works to make it even better.
What do you think? Is Lively a case of too little to late, or with Google behind it will it become a popular online, social destination? That leads to another question. With Google behind it, will Lively quickly become wrought with advertising?
I guess we'll have to wait and see. Will you give Lively a try?

It is very useful and the postings are very interesting for more information you can check :
